Identifying Models for Cluster Hiring Initiatives

Lewis-Burke was asked by a university client’s president for advice on a university cluster hiring initiative.  The firm prepared a memorandum with model examples from around the country, identified key areas of need based on detailed conversations on campus and an assessment of federal program requirements for future years, and forecasted areas of strategic emphasis. Subsequently, the firm was asked to prepare short assessments of federal opportunities associated with specific cluster hiring proposals that had been presented to the client’s Vice President for Research.  These assessments included an examination of the client’s current assets and identification of areas for improved federal engagement.  The firm then detailed near-term federal opportunities, benchmarked the client against key competitors and discovered what would be required to “bridge the gap”. The client ultimately made the targeted hires. Lewis-Burke worked with the teams to help pursue identified areas.
