Earthquake Early Warning System

Lewis-Burke is working with a university client to increase funding for earthquake hazards research including leveraging private foundation funds for the full development of an earthquake early warning system (EEW) for the West Coast.  The ultimate goal is to have the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) fully fund the development and operations of an EEW system.  Recognizing the need for congressional support, Lewis-Burke worked with the client to build a robust coalition of support with the project’s partners from four research universities in three states.  As a direct result of the coalition’s efforts, federal funding for EEW has increased significantly with the coalition continuing to see robust congressional and agency support for the project.
